THE AMERICAN HOLSTEINER HORSE ASSOCIATION & GERMAN HOLSTEINER VERBAND

2018 Approvals Entry Form

PLEASE READ ALL PARTS OF THIS FORM FULLY, AS PARTS HAVE CHANGED RELEVANT TO THE RECENT DECISION TO MERGE THE AHHA WITH THE HOLSTEINER VERBAND IN GERMANY.

Though the Holsteiner Verband is now our governing body, the AHHA office will be the recipient of approvals entries in 2018 during this transition period. Your understanding as we all work with new procedures is appreciated.

Please fill out this form as completely as possible. If you require more spaces for entries, fill out a second form. This form is not mailed to the site you will be attending; you will need to contact the site host independently to discuss stabling and specific site requirements. See our website for site locations and dates.

ENTRY DUE DATES

Completed approvals entries will be accepted up to four days prior to the site date of the site you will be attending. Entries after this deadline will incur a late fee of $30 per horse.

All fees must be paid in advance.

Bear in mind that approvals is different from registration. An entry into the approvals is not equivalent to applying for registration papers. The online and printable registration forms can be found on the AHHA website for your use. Foals that are being brought to an approvals site must have completed the application process for either registration or certificate of pedigree, and all owners who enter horses in the 2018 approvals must join the Holsteiner Verband. For more details on joining the Verband, please contact our office in Oregon.

SITE YOU PLAN TO ATTEND

THE LIST OF SITES BELOW IS NOT COMPLETE. DATES WILL BE ADDED AS THEY ARE SCHEDULED. PLEASE SEND YOUR ENTRIES!

Final tour locations and dates will be published on our website later. Please select the tentative location you plan to attend; know that we are adding sites as they are scheduled. If you would like to suggest a location not on the list, please select "Other" and fill in the requested data. If you are interested in becoming an AHHA site host, the office is ready to assist and answer all your questions.

Foals/Yearlings for Inspection and Branding

Foals must be fully parent verified with papers prior to presentation in order to be branded. If you have not registered your foal prior to completeing this approvals entry form, please know that your entry will not be considered complete until the AHHA office has completed your foal's registration or certificate of pedigree process. The time to complete this process is approximately three to four weeks from receipt of the registration application, assuming no parts or portions of the application are missing.

A word on branding: foals do not have to be inspected to be branded. Your eligible Holsteiner foal can come to a official site to receive a brand without charge. However, we must have notice that you are coming to receive a brand, so you will need to complete the information on the foal(s) even if they are not being presented for scores. Use the selection options to indicate you are coming for brand only.

In this section, you can enter your foals in the AHHA's Foal Futurity. All foals are eligible to compete in the Futurity. Funds generated by entries are distributed to the winners following the tour's completion. There is a small fee of $25.00 to enter your foal. Use the selection options to enter.

If stallion does not have an AHHA issued or Holsteiner Verband issued paper, please contact the office to confirm eligibility prior to submitting your entry.

Imported stallions with Holsteiner Verband papers will need to go through the dual registration process with the AHHA prior to approval. The dual registration form is available on our website.

NOTE: Potential Stallion Candidates come to a site for evaluation only, not for studbook entry. Judges will provide commentary and opinions on Potential Stallion Candidates in order to help owners decide if they should consider pursuing approvals with the AHHA.

BROODMARE DNA KIT ORDER

Use this section only to order DNA Kits. Every mare that is entered into the AHHA Mare Books must have a DNA record on file. If your Foundation Mare (non-Holsteiner) has a DNA record with another registry, the AHHA may be able to access it, potentially making additional DNA samples unnecessary.

Studbook entry will be delayed until DNA requirements are met. Thus we provide a means here to purchase the kits, which will be mailed to you. Instructions are included and are very easy to follow, requiring only a sample of hair from the horse's mane or tail.

If you are unsure whether your mare already has a DNA record on file with the AHHA, please contact the office.

Each DNA Kit is $65.
